YouTube’s Role in Society
YouTube is a subsidiary of Google, Inc. created in November 2005. It is a website for video sharing that permits users to view, upload, and share video clips.
Unregistered users are allowed to watch the videos on the site while uploading of videos is available only to those who are duly registered. Video uploading of registered users is unlimited as long as they do not contain the restricted materials. Commercial advertisements, pornographic, nude, defamatory, harassment, and those that promote criminal conduct are prohibited.
The YouTube has gained popularity lately. It has become a staple for most of the internet buffs. With the millions of users logging in each day, the YouTube may actually be the right medium to showcase someone to boost one’s popularity. Fame gained over the internet has yielded unexpected but favorable results.
A number have actually been famous whose uploaded videos have been discovered. Celebrities from a variety of localities have drawn a great deal of publicity while other common individuals have been employed by large companies as a result of being internet celebrities.
This must be reason why even the candidates of the US Presidential Race have actually taken advantage of this medium. Political candidates have in fact been using it to showcase their candidacy and platform. It might just be the most apt outlet since it reaches a wide range and a substantial number of constituents. Apart from that it is the less tiresome campaign strategy for those who have utilized it.
Truly, the YouTube has made an enormous impact to today’s society.

Sadly our children can view videos not suitable for them and sadly, they blame it on parents when they do. Something should be done about allowing these downloads (or uploads).
