A Filipino Talent Made Famous By YouTube

She was discovered in YouTube and now she’s well-known not only in her homeland but also internationally. Charice Pempengco, a 15-year old Filipina, started her career competing in amateur and local TV singing contests.

Thanks to the stranger who posted her video on YouTube, Charice rapidly became an internet singing sensation with almost 13 million hits online. Because of her rising popularity, Charice was invited by Ellen DeGeneres to guest on her self-titled show. Ellen herself had witnessed the amazing talent on YouTube. Even David Foster was amazed by the girl’s big singing voice and as a matter of fact he introduces her as his newest baby. Moreover, it was through him Charice had the chance to showcase her talent on Oprah last May 12.
