A Happy Slip

The YouTube website has proved to be a breeding ground of talents and a source of many success stories for those who have become the site’s celebrity. One of which is the person behind the Happy Slip videos.

She is a Filipino who grew up in the United States. Despite of being brought up in a foreign country with a differing tradition, she has become accustomed to the ways of the Filipino. In fact the term happy slip is derived from an article of clothing that is commonly worn by Filipino women. The term is supposedly “half-slip” which is an underclothing but was wrongly pronounced by her mother as a “happy slip”.

According to her, each time she goes out of the house wearing a skirt her mother would always remind her to wear one. This gave her the idea of which she coined to name her very own website. This is also the same name she used in the social network of YouTube where she has uploaded a number of videos of herself.

A Celebrity Beyond the Web

A particular video is the one entitled “Peelings” which is actually about feelings. In it she mimicked her relatives and copied their ways. This is particularly entertaining as she gives the viewing public a taste of her life. Because of her amusing videos, many people took interest in her. Her videos are one of those that are largely viewed and very well appreciated. Through this she was able to make a name in her own right.

Due to her success in the YouTube community, she was recently hired by the Philippine government as the newest endorser of the country’s tourism industry. She was asked to come to the native land of her parents and was able to tour the country for free in order to establish her credibility.

The celebrity status she gained in the Internet has greatly helped her in becoming a success beyond the pages of the web. For those who have not seen her videos, you could visit her website at www.happyslip.com.

I guarantee you a time well spent. Enjoy this happy slip.
